A Message from the Pastor

Max Lucado in his book “Grace for the Moment” writes a piece entitled Pastor Harris“Truth in Love.” Lucado says “the single most difficult pursuit is truth and love,” and he proclaims it a grammatically correct sentence. I agree with his position with this proviso, that one holds one's self out as Christian, for when we do so, we find these two activities inextricably tied. We are, after all, called to one duty: that is LOVE. We must do all that we do in love, for God is love. Jesus calls us to hear his words when he says that all the laws and the prophets hang on this one principle: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself”.

In the pursuit of happiness and also in the pursuit of eternal life this is the path that we must follow, this is the ground upon which we can and must stand. We must pursue truth as a precious stone, a jewel of great value. That is to say we must hear Jesus’ parable of the pearl; a gem so precious that it caused a man to sell all that he had to pursue it.
There is a study out that says the average person, when engaged in a conversation, will tell a lie within the first ten minutes. That is a harsh reality if indeed it is true. We must pursue truth at all times. That is a place that we must take our stand. We must not ever pursue one at the expense of the other, for us they are inextricably tied together. This is the place that we must take our stand, for God is Love. We must live in Him that He will abide in us. Amen.
