Musing From the Pastor
This ride that we are on is
one of reasonable success, that is, we are showing signs of
bearing fruit. We have now had a service where we had over one
hundred people in attendance. We have shown that growth is
possible for Epworth. Yet we have some who doubt that they have
the responsibility to be a part of the bearing of fruit that is,
they do not see their place in the growth cycle. Over the next
few weeks we will begin to examine how each of us fit into this
fabric of growth. I will repeat something that I said last
month. Listen to the words of Malachi in the 3rd
chapter and the 10th verse; … Bring all the tithes
into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try
Me now in this, Says the LORD of hosts. “If I will not open for
you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such
blessing That there will not be room enough to
receive it. Malachi is very clear in his words. You do what
you should do to try God, he further says the return will be so
great that you will not have enough room to hold what I will
send. I do not believe that God through Malachi is only talking
about money. Yes, I know that is where the emphasis is, but
allow me to put forth another possibility: that is, this formula
will work in any area of your life. You do what you should do
and God will do the things that he said He will do. We have
begun the journey; let us move on in faith. The faith that I
speak of is; God-pleasing, Devil-defeating, mountain-moving
faith. There is much to be done. Let your hands and heart find
that work.
