Poet’s Corner
This is something “New”
starting with this issue – a Poet’s Corner. This “Corner” will
give all poets an opportunity to show us their works. Please
give your writings to Clarence Williams. I would like to thank
Pete Schwartz for suggesting that Epworth’s Newsletter needed a
Poet’s Corner and also being the first to share his writings
with us.
“The Dream”
Last night I had a dream, and it was quite a tale.
I met an angel, poor thing, she wasn't quite well.
Her body was all bruised, broken, and battered.
Her wings were all ripped, torn, and tattered.
She seemed to be crying and she was pointing at me.
When I got closer, she said "Come closer, come see."
She said "I am your guardian angel, and look what you have done.
While running around and having your fun.
My wings got all ripped, sheltering you from sin.
Because of your misdeeds, I may never fly again.
These bruises I got, while fighting evil away.
While you chased after harm, day after day.
But never fear, I shall never let you fight alone.
I'll be by your side, until we meet again, at our father's
throne."
But when I woke up this morning, I wondered why I should try?
And off in the distance, you could hear an angel, start to cry.

Favors
As the world goes around, too many people just pass by.
When we need to stop and help, or at least stop and try.
There's no need for thanks, the pleasures all mine.
For what I give today, I know, I will get back in time.
So I have done this for you, with hopes in return.
That someone in need will become your concern.
I don't expect you to run out and do it today.
I just ask that you stop to help, someone, somewhere, along the
way.

Jan. 20, 2008
– Human Relations Day (Offering).
Human Relations Day: Make it a Day for All God's Children.
Your offering on Jan. 20, 2008 strengthens outreach to
communities in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, encouraging social
justice and work with at-risk youth. For 40 years, The United
Methodist Church has responded through its Community Developers
Program, supported by the Human Relations Day Offering.
Congregations across the United Methodist connection are blessed
by a network of Christ-centered community developers who nuture
local leadership. As the community gains strength, the
congregation gains visibilty and people experience the profound
love of Jesus Christ. Your congregation can make January 20,
2008-Human Relations Day- a day for all God's children.
Encourage your members to give generously.

Refreshing The Soul Collection
This is another “New”
addition for the Epworth Newsletter. Mrs. Linda Rose will be
speaking to us monthly through her “Refreshing The Soul
Collection”. I hope you will enjoy and be uplifted by it. The
following greeting is from Linda.
Hello My Friend,
Since
1996 God has inspired me to write the "Refreshing the Soul"
Collection. This article comes to you like a long drink of
water on the road side of life, written and designed to inspire,
encourage and uplift you on your journey. God is truly
amazing, the main source of my life and it is my heart felt
desire to share with you what His word has given me through a
reflection of life that inspires the soul.
My prayer is that you will be blessed with all of the love, joy
and peace that are found in a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ. For those of you who are not sure about a relationship
with Jesus Christ may these monthly articles inspire and
encourage you to seek Him.
Until next time....
In Him,
Linda Rose
