Musings From The Pastor
I read these passages
today…2 Kings 4:15-36 “…”It’s all right,” she said…” and
John 14:15-18 “…”I will not leave you comfortless; I will
come to you …” and I through about the song by James
Cleveland, “Christian, Where is Your Faith.” To fully
understand this you should read the above selections in
total.
In the midst of changing
circumstance; where is your faith? Her only son is dead, his
body is now cold, and yet she did not see death she saw
life. In the vernacular,” IT IS ALL RIGHT”… I note that it
is said when things do not seem all right. I further note
that it is said in the present, not in the future.
The question is have
you, in the face of trails, in the face of misunderstanding,
in the face of hard times, in the face of death been able to
say It’s all right!
You know it is all right
because Jesus said He would never leave you.
Worship
We continue to praise
God for all He is doing here in this congregation of His
church. The question that each person must ask is; am I
doing all that I am called to do in regards to bring people
to the Lord, can I do more? It is my challenge to you; to
ask someone to join you or bring someone with you to church.
I am hopeful that we can
perfect the split service model; this is a model that I
think will allow us to increase the number of people that
will fit in our available space. This is a job for the
worship committee.
In the last report I ask
that we take part and be responsible for our young people.
Yet I am told that during service last week when the
preaching started there was a mass exodus. I must ask the
usher to control that behavior.
Our Spanish speaking
ministry is moving, yet slower than I had hoped. The
ministry has not grown.
Special
Events and Out Reach Ministries
“Jail Is No Place To Be
Somebody” was a very successful program this year. It is our
intent to do some similar type of programs each quarter.
Pastor Ronald Wooding will speak more to that program and
how it will work.
It is time to plan the
VBC/Talent Camp. This year I hope we can retain some of the
children as participants in the church; that come out to
take part in VBC/Talent Camp.
We are looking to have
several “Church in the Park”, services this year, one of the
services is set to be in conjunction with two of our sister
churches, St. Paul and Warren UMC. I met with the pastors of
those churches and we picked the date of July 8, 2007 for a
service and table fellowship. There is much to do to ensure
that this is a good beginning for cooperation between the
churches.
Sister Wallace Yvonne
Tollette is getting the pieces in place for the HOLY
HOOK-UP. Please look for ways that you can be of help, also
ask her how you can be of help. I know that October seems a
long way off but it is not.
Brother Dwight Anderson
will take a group of young people to a conference in South
Carolina this summer and hopefully we will do some work in
New Orleans to help rebuild there. The New Orleans part of
the trip is still up in the air, I am still working on it.
Brother Dwight will be requesting a check for registration.
I need to know who all is going and get the accommodations
set in place. Please see Brother Dwight if you plan to take
this trip.
During the Annual
Conference it is the intent of the Board of Stewards to use
a part of our film and highlight this church as one that is
carrying out the meaning of being a church that is in
connection.
Pastor Jeff Kanost is
your Lay Representative at the Rocky Mountain Annual
Conference; you should find out what issues are on the
ballot and tell him how you think he should vote on them.
Annual Conference begins on June 13th and ends on
the 16th. That is the time in which I will be
ordained. Please plan to come out and be supportive.

Jazz And The Spirit
The new radio program
Jazz and the spirit starts this Sunday at 7:00 a.m.
on Smooth Jazz 104.3. The Communications Committee has
bought time on this show for three 1-minute announcements
per week for a pilot 6-month period. You may hear this
station in the Denver metro area, from Monument to Longmont
and on the World Wide Web at this link: smoothjazzdenver.com/home/listenlive.html.
The time of 7:00 a.m. represents a change from the first
announcement, and will go out to a larger audience. Since
one of the tag lines this week mentions the RMCUMC.org web
site, a new Welcome page has been added: rmcumc.org/welcome.
Any church can join in
this project, consider how you want to invite folks to our
church in 13 seconds to tag onto one of the Igniting
Ministry spot advertisements or you can write your own
60-second copy. The cost to the Communications Committee is
$50/spot so they would like you to pay for your time by
sending $50 per 1-minute announcement to the Conference
office. Send an e-mail to Ben Roe,
ben@rmcumc.com, or give him a call at 303-325-7046 or
800-536-3736 X146.
