Breakfast
The women of Epworth are planning to serve the men a very
special Father's Day breakfast on June 15, 2008. They will start
serving at 7:30 a.m. and stop at 8:45 a.m. Spread the news!

Joint Worship
Service
On June 8th, in the morning, Epworth UMC will be traveling to
Phillips UMC with the choir for a 9:30 a.m. worship service.
Phillips is located at 1450 S. Pierce St., Lakewood, CO. 80232.
The phone number is 303-934-5549. Epworth's vans will be
available for those needing transportation.
Everyone will return to Epworth church following the joint
services for our regular 11 a.m. worship service.

Farewell Pastor Anna
In case you haven't heard, Pastor Anna
Mandelstamm will be leaving us on June 15th for South
Carolina. She has received a call to pastor in South Carolina
effective June 15th. She will be missed and we wish her well.

Love Made Visible
Constance Sauls-Wilkins has been promoting this unique and worth
while project for several weeks. She has created a sign-up sheet
so volunteers can sigh-up. Curious about what these folks will
be doing at Epworth? Want to learn more? See or call Sis. Connie
at 303-371-6801. You will be amazed by what they have done or
plan to do.

Annual Conference
The 2008 session of the Rocky Mountain Annual Conference will be
held June 18-21 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center, 4900 South
Syracuse, Denver, Colorado (same place as last year). Epworth
will send Rev. King H. Harris, Pastor Jeff Kanost and Ross
Stefansen to attend selected activities. If you are interested
in the voting on a particular petition and wish to know its
final vote, you can ask Rev. Harris, Pastor Jeff or Ross.
Tellers are also needed for Annual Conference. Don Ford, head
teller, needs some help. Tellers are needed if “counts” are
required during the business session of the Annual Conference.
Besides the fun of counting, a teller is reserved a special seat
at each session. If you are interested, please contact Don at
pastor@cumcps.org.

Around Epworth
Our church, the almost 24/7 church, continues to be a vessel of
God for all who seek Him. On May 25th, our guest speaker was
Rev. Dr. David Trickett, President of Iliff School of Theology.
His sermon, aptly titled, “What's First?” centered on our
individual and collective service to our community, inviting us
to always give back and help to make our world a better place
now and for those who would come after.
We also dedicated our new choir kente cloth stoles. The colorful
stoles, from the Mother Land, symbolize honoring our ancestors
from that ugly period of slavery where it is estimated that 40
million Africans lost their lives during the Middle Passage and
for their enduring the most 250 years of slavery in American.
There has also been a time of sorrow. Epworth member, Ada Busby,
lost her sister Rosetta Walker. Rev. King Harris conducted the
service and offered a friendly and sympathetic eulogy. We pray a
safe return of all the relatives and others who traveled some
distance to say good-bye to Rosetta and pray for a swift healing
to those left behind.
Rev. King Harris and his bride, Ernestine, celebrated 48 years
of wedded bliss this past week. Since Rev. Harris insists that
he will live until at least age 150 minimum, he still has a lot
of anniversaries to go-about 102 to be exact. Happy future
anniversaries, Ernestine and King!
Pastor Anna, with assistance from Wallace Yvonne Tollette, will
be initiating an etiquette class for all the young men in her
charge. Volunteers are welcome. HEAR YE! HEAR YE! It's revival
time soon-The Holy “Hook-Up” October 8-11, 2008. See Wallace
Yvonne Tollette if you would like to volunteer, make a
tax-deductible monetary donation or help with promotion!
And, don't forget, Connie Sauls Wilkins' program, “Love Made
Visible”, cleaning up and out the Fellowship Hall.
Our Wednesday night Bible study continues to grow-yeah! The real
earthly hero however, is Clarence Williams, the chef
extraordinaire. Thank you Clarence and the Epworth treasury.

Worshiping In
The Park
Don't let Pastor Jeff Kanost forget this date: July 20, 2008.
Why? He is in charge of the weather and that Sunday, July 20th,
Epworth will hold their worship services in the Pavilion at
Cheesman Park. Don't leave after worship services because a
picnic will follow. Jesse Melson and Pete Schwartz may be
cooking that day (which means fried catfish, chicken, beef and
pork ribs). Don't let Pastor Jeff forget July 20th and you
either!

Someone?
Been downstairs at Epworth recently? If you said yes, then you
know people aren't where they use to be. Family-to-Family and
Epworth's staff have exchanged their office locations. Evelyn
and Chris Davis are now located where Sandra use to be. Mary
Holt is now located where Thom Foster was. You get the picture;
take a minute and go see for yourself. There is one good thing
about this move; phone numbers are the same. Call for whoever
you need, it's much simpler and faster.

Epworth's Calendar
o Morning Prayer Services. Rev. King Harris is conducting
Morning Prayer services - M - F starting at 6 a.m. in the
Sanctuary. Morning Prayer Services on Sunday start at 8 a.m.
o Adult, Youth & Children Sunday school classes. All
classes start at 9:45 a.m.
o Epworth's Hispanic Worship Service. Every Sun. at 5:00
p.m. Services conducted by Rev. King Harris, Assistant Pastor
Marvin Lazo and Assistant Pastor Manuel Jimenez.
o Epworth Travel Education Center. If you are interested
in a business opportunity that will make money for you and your
church, please come out and join us on Monday evenings. A
meeting is held at 6:30 p.m. at Bogey's (located in the City
Park Golf Course Club House). For more information please call
Thom Foster at 303-296-6287.
o Adult Bible Study. Every Wednesday evening. A meal is
served starting at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Bible study
starts at 6:30 p.m. All activities end at 7:30 p.m.
o Epworth's Men's Choir Rehearsal. They rehearse every
Thursday evening from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
o Epworth's Adult Choir Rehearsal. They rehearse every
Friday evening from 6:30-8 p.m.
o Epworth's Children's Choir / Youth Rehearsal and Fellowship.
They rehearse every Friday evening from 6:30 - 8 p.m.
o Epworth's UMYF. (United Methodist Youth Fellowship)
meet on Sundays at 6 p.m.
o AIDS/HIV Awareness Classes. Are scheduled every Tuesday
evening. Classes start at 4:30 p.m. and end at 6 p.m. Contact
Assistance Pastor Ronald Wooding, Scott Drew or Pam Richardson

o The Fatherhood Initiative. A group of men meeting every
Tuesday evening to discuss fatherhood and how to become better
fathers. An evening meal will be provided. Activities start at

My Shadow

What's Happening in July & August?
o July 13th:
Epworth is having a “Block Party”! Streets will be blocked off
to vehicle traffic and our 11 a.m. worship service will be
“outside” in the street. Combined choirs will be singing, door
prizes and clothing will be distributed to some lucky people.
Food will be served following worship service.
o July 20th:
Worship and Picnic at the Cheesman Park Pavilion.

o August 8th -15th:
Eight delegates from Epworth church will be traveling to
Nashville, TN to participate in this years Gospel Music Workshop
of America. Music Minister, Connie Sauls Wilkins will be telling
us more about this trip and will also be giving us the names of
the eight delegates.

o The Kenyan Worship services will be held on June 1st the 15th
and 29th. Their services are in English, so feel free to join
them. Services start at 2 p.m. Please call Epworth's Office at
