The Simunye Project:
Simunye ("we are together")
A Documentary Film about the children from the Agape Orphanage, Kwa Zulu
Natal
The Simunye film project aims to raise awareness and funds for the
increasing numbers of AIDS orphans in Kwa Zulu Natal
"In
this poverty stricken rural community a "family" of 25 AIDS orphans
escapes the struggles of everyday life by singing together in beautiful
harmony. This is the only way they can say thank you to the people who
have given them food and shelter".
The film will follow the children throughout the process of recording a
CD including vocal tuition from expert musicians and producers. The
children will then embark on a concert tour of the UK, taking in
cathedrals and concerts halls.
The CD and film will be used to raise funds for the Agape Childcare
Centre, the building of a care centre for abandoned babies in Kwa-Nyuswa,
Kwa Zulu Natal and to raise awareness.
"It is through this uplifting story that we will tell the more important
stories of the struggle of millions of people against HIV & AIDS."
"The CD and film will be used to raise funds for the children to help
them escape poverty and deprivation and build better lives"
